La nuée

An art installation by Laurent Lamarche. We built hundreds of robots communicating and interacting through light.

We made this project with my friend Laurent Lamarche in 2017. We met every week for one year to discuss ideas, design and build our robots and program them. It was first presented at the Salle Alfred Pellan, Maison des arts de Laval, Laval, Québec, Canada. It later traveled to several locations. We also created a custom hardware sequencer to control the swarm of robots in a live musical performance.

At first, you entered a room in which you could see some sort of natural history museum.
